Funding Incentives for Next-Generation Trucks and Advanced Transportation Technologies
One of the NYC DOT’s priorities is to improve air quality in local communities. To help reach this goal, the NYC Clean Trucks Program prioritizes the deployment of zero emission battery-electric replacement trucks, while also offering incentives for the deployment of natural gas (CNG), diesel-hybrid, and clean diesel replacement trucks. Rebate incentive funding is available to businesses for the purchase of eligible trucks to reduce truck pollution.
Battery Electric Replacement Truck Incentives*
The matrix below illustrates the base rate per Class size for each battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Additional funding is available if the fleet is domiciled in a New York City Industrial Business Zone (IBZ) or a designated Disadvantaged Community (DAC). If a fleet has 100 or fewer vehicles, it is a small fleet and qualifies for further funding. Finally, if a fleet has a diesel truck Model Year 2015 or older, there is additional funding to scrap the truck.
There is an annual limit of $1M per fleet in funding for battery-electric replacement trucks.
| Vehicle Weight Class | Base Incentive | DAC/IBZ or OBC Bonus | Small Fleet Bonus | Scrap Bonus | Per Vehicle Cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 4 | $85,000 | $25,000 | $17,000 | $17,000 | $144,000 |
| Class 5 | $100,000 | $30,000 | $20,000 | $20,000 | $170,000 |
| Class 6 | $150,000 | $45,000 | $30,000 | $30,000 | $255,000 |
| Class 7 | $185,000 | $55,000 | $37,000 | $37,000 | $314,000 |
| Class 8 | $200,000 | $60,000 | $40,000 | $40,000 | $340,000 |
*The rebate available for battery-electric trucks will be based on the following:
- 75% of an actual dealer sales invoice, or the base incentive listed above in the funding matrix, whichever is less.
- A cap based on weight class as listed in the matrix above, and the additional bonus incentive funding a fleet may qualify to receive.
- Bonus incentives are in addition to the baseline funding, and are not to exceed the total purchase price of the dealer sales invoice.
Non-Electric Replacement Truck Incentives**
The program also funds the purchase of CNG, diesel-electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric, and new diesel trucks.
There is an annual limit of $500,000 per fleet for CNG or hybrid replacement trucks.
There is an annual limit of $250,000 per fleet for diesel replacement trucks.

How Will Funds Be Distributed?
Rebate incentives will be distributed to the participating dealership after the new replacement truck(s) is delivered to the applicant.
When Will Funds Be Received?
The timeframe between submitting an application and receiving the rebate incentive is dependent on when the application is complete and when the new replacement truck is available for delivery. This will vary for each program applicant.
